Major 2nd Grade Concepts
Learn/Review all basic rhythm notes and rests including 2 eighths, quarter, half, dotted half, and whole.
Learn to read rhythms in standard notation using time signatures (2/4, 3/4, 4/4)
Discuss melodic direction
Learn the basic pitch intervals and identify each interval in the staff
Write, revise, and finalize a short piece of music using traditional rhythm notation and color-coded pitches
Learn basic tempo, dynamics, and articulation terms.
Discuss and write about music preferences and explain their preference choice.
Evaluate if music communicates it's mood well using tempo, articulation, and dynamics.
Discuss the historical, cultural, and social elements of songs we are covering in class.
Respond and adjust performances during rehearsals at a grade appropriate level.
Learn basic vocal technique and health.
